The UTokyo/Asahi Shimbun Survey (UTAS)
conducted by Masaki Taniguchi (Principal Investigator) of the Graduate Schools for Law and Politics, the University of Tokyo and the Asahi Shimbun
The UTAS has targeted all candidates in every election since 2003, it functions as a panel survey of Japanese politicians that allows to track the changes in each party's and each politician's opinion. Moreover, they not only conduct a questionnaire survey of politicians but also of voters. Because these two surveys have many of the same questions, it is possible to directly compare politicians' and voters' issue stance.
