TANIGUCHI Masaki

Professor of Japanese Politics

Taniguchi Masaki, Professor in the Graduate Schools for Law and Politics at the University of Tokyo, is a political scientist. His main research interests are in electoral studies and political communication. He has published many books, including Representative Democracy in Japan, Politics and Mass Media, and The Theory of Party Support. His publications in English appear in such journals as International Political Science Review, Political Communication, Electoral Studies, and Journal of Elections, Public Opinion and Parties. He is president of the Nippon Institute for Research Advancement (NIRA). He has served as commissioner of the National Commission for the Management of Political Funds, nominated by the Japanese Diet. Professor Taniguchi received his B.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Tokyo.
